Jones, Swanson, Huddell & Garrison Announce New Members

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Jones, Swanson, Huddell & Garrison, LLC is pleased to announce that Catherine E. Lasky (“Katie”), Harvey S. Bartlett III (“Tad”), and Emma Elizabeth Antin Daschbach (“Bessie”) have become members of the firm.

“We are thrilled to announce that these extremely talented attorneys have joined as members of the firm,” said Lynn Swanson, Managing Member. “Each one will play a vital role in our future, with Katie leading the commercial litigation practice, Bessie directing the environmental practice, and Tad heading the firm’s appellate practice.”

Katie Lasky joined the firm in 2008, and since 2012 has coordinated the firm’s commercial litigation practice. Katie’s practice focuses on corporate financial matters, such as tax strategy litigation, contract and intellectual property disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty claims. She has also handled health care disputes, land use issues, and mass tort matters. Presently, Katie’s work includes pursuing a breach of fiduciary duty claim against the former officers and directors of a bankrupt company; pursuing a private lender for failing to fund a large construction loan; and leading the firm’s charge against BP for damages related to the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, both inside and outside of the settlement. Katie recently received the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Leah Hipple McKay Award for outstanding volunteerism, and has been recognized as one of the 2013 New Orleans CityBusiness Women of the Year

Tad Bartlett practices in the fields of complex commercial litigation, land damage and property rights litigation, and appellate advocacy. Tad joined the firm in 2009 after a judicial clerkship at the U.S. Fifth Circuit, appellate and litigation work at two New Orleans defense firms, and development of his own appellate law practice.  At Jones Swanson, Tad has handled commercial matters involving complex partnership disputes; Federal RICO and state racketeering claims, including some resulting from sham tax shelter promotions; First Amendment and libel issues; and preferential rights disputes.  He also directs the firm’s appellate-related matters for both the commercial and environmental litigation groups. Tad has been recognized for his volunteer efforts in the community with the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award.

Bessie Antin Daschbach has led the firm’s environmental litigation practice since joining the firm in 2011. In that role, Bessie has spearheaded the work that has gone into filing the coastal land loss litigation against 97 oil and gas companies, titled Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East, et al. v. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC, et al. In her position generally, Bessie ensures that the firm’s environmental litigation matters progress efficiently and effectively, avoiding an unnecessarily prolonged litigation process. Together with her team, Bessie represents landowners throughout Louisiana against some of the industry’s largest oil and gas operators for extensive land and groundwater contamination. In addition to her environmental practice, Bessie also has wide-ranging experience in commercial litigation.
