Tad Bartlett practices in the fields of complex commercial litigation, land damage and property rights litigation, and appellate advocacy. Since joining the firm in 2009, Tad has handled commercial matters involving complex partnership disputes; Federal RICO and state racketeering claims, including some resulting from sham tax shelter promotions; First Amendment and libel issues; and preferential rights disputes. He also directs Jones Swanson’s appellate-related matters for both the commercial and environmental litigation groups, and has worked steadily on behalf of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East to hold oil and gas companies accountable for their role in coastal land loss as outlined in the action filed in July of 2013 styled Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East, et al. v. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC, et al.

Tad graduated from Tulane Law School, magna cum laude, in 2000, earning Order of the Coif honors, where he was a student attorney with the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic and served on the Tulane Law Review and the Tulane Environmental Law Journal. Prior to law school, Tad completed his undergraduate degree at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, also graduating magna cum laude. Tad began his legal career as a judicial clerk for the Hon. James L. Dennis of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He then practiced in the New Orleans office of the law firm of Liskow & Lewis, working on appeals of complex civil and administrative disputes and environmental regulatory matters; and then in the surety litigation boutique firm of Krebs, Farley & Pelleteri. Prior to joining Jones, Swanson, Huddell & Garrison in 2009, Tad operated a solo appellate practice, focusing on appeals in large land-damage cases, complex commercial disputes, First Amendment claims, and antitrust violations.
